Rabhasa Trade Analysis

NTR latest release Rabhasa has brought huge losses to Distributors and Exhibitors but brought Profits for the Producer Bellam Konda Suresh who sold the entire Theatrical Rights for good table profit.

AP & TS Rights sold out for 36.75 Cr and collected a Closing Share of 21.08 cr. Outside AP & TS Rights sold out for 8.50 Cr and collected a Closing Share of 5.20 Cr. Worldwide Theatrical Rights sold out for 45.25 Cr and collected a Closing Worldwide Share of 26.28 Cr. Overall , Its the biggest flop among NTR films as far as Theatrical Rights are concerned.

In the past, producers used to sell the total rights of the film at their quoted price and give the entire surplus (if earned) to the distributor. Now, the system has changed. In addition to the minimum guarantee price (MGP) fixed by the producer, the distributor is forced to pay a share of about 80 per cent in the total collections over and above the MGP. If a film does not get MGP, the distributor has to pay the total sum from his pocket. When the film earns profits, he gets to take home just 20 per cent of the surplus.
