YSRCP leads Jr NTR's 'Baadshah' celebrations

In a curious development that could have far reaching consequences on the political stage and even in Tollywood, activists of YSR Congress Party led the celebrations of Jr NTR’s latest success ‘Baadshah,’ which hit the silver screens across the state on Friday.

The fans of Jr NTR were on cloud nine after receiving support from Jaganmohan Reddy’s followers. The fans were especially elated after the movie received positive reviews from all centres notwithstanding the fact that the sympathisers of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have disowned Jr NTR.

With the followers of Nandamuri Balakrishna, senior hero in the Nandamuri clan, distancing themselves from the movie, the exhibitors waited with bated breath until the film was released on Friday.

Sources said ‘Baadshah’ was sold at very fancy price as the distributor reportedly picked it up for about Rs 2.5 crore in Krishna and Rs 3.75 crore in Guntur and they heaved a sigh of relief only after the noon show.

TDP cadres and Balakrishna’s fans were the chief supporters of Jr NTR until recently. Producers and distributors of Jr NTR’s films gained a lot despite some of his films bombing at the boxoffice mainly due to the patronage extended by Nandamuri fans and TDP cadres.

Trouble broke out when Gudivada legislator and Jr NTR’s follower Kodali Venkateswara Rao alias Nani switched over to YSRCP about six months ago.

Although, Jr NTR denied his role behind Nani’s political decision, the party’s top leadership did not buy his argument and asked fans to dump him. Against this back drop, the entire TDP leadership from Krishna district kept away from Jr NTR’s visit to Vijayawada last month.

Curiously, fans discreetly supported by the Jagan bandwagon, gave him a rousing reception and gave an indication that they would stand by him to make ‘Baadshah’ a success.
